Hello World! There seems to be a recurring theme with the start to each of my blogs. A kind of apology for the inconsistency in my writing. They (I am not quite sure who ‘they’ are) say that everyone has a book in them somewhere. I have concluded mine is buried deep in a murky abyss somewhere at the bottom of my soul and maybe I would get a chapter written before I die of old age. Now if I could decant my thoughts straight out of my head and into a book, we’d be onto a winner, with several volumes produced.
Anyway, enough about my inabilities. Let’s turn our heads to the exciting news. Where we are with Hetty! The ugly duckling/swan story comes to mind at this point. Hetty is looking absolutely amazing!! Maybe not quite swan category, but certainly a smart looking Canadian goose.
In an effort to try and play catch up, I’ve popped in a couple of interim posts mainly with photos since my last ‘proper’ blog, just so people didn’t think I had fallen from the face of the earth.

I have glanced back at my last proper blog which was a little over two years ago. Is there anything with a gestational period of two years… oh yes, turns out there is. Sorry for my absence, I have been busy looking after my pet Octopus, which is a Graneledone boeropacificia whilst it goes through a difficult time. If you believe that, you will believe anything…. but read on anyway as the rest of this blog will be the absolute truth! Promise.
So the bank holiday weekend that has just gone, end of May 2025. We went camping in Hetty. For two nights. We used the shower, the cooker and the fridge for the first time. Hoorah. Admittedly, we were only parked on our driveway, as Hetty has yet to go through the painful process of her MOT before we can actually drive her anywhere. I am imagining she will throw some curve balls our way and need a bit of money spending on her to get that all important pass. If the expenditure of that isn’t enough, one of us will then have to sell a kidney (we are all out of small children as they have grown up) in order to fund the vast quantities of diesel she will consume. And that’s just to get her to the end of the drive.
As we connected the water properly ahead of our epic adventure, Hetty decided to have a moment of panic and was reluctant to co-operate. She decided that leaking was a great idea. In two places. Fortunately, one place was underneath and the other was in the shower. So she was considerate I suppose. Successful repairs were completed by Dave so we were able to continue with our driveway camping extravaganza. Overall it was a success. Dave had a lovely hot shower and was most happy with that. When it came to my turn, Hetty had other ideas. I wonder if she is like a jealous woman, as no matter what we did, my shower was in no way hot!

Oh, oh, oh. I have to mention this as it was one of the highlights of the weekend for me. Anyone reading this remember the game Mastermind? I have very fond memories of playing it with my Dad as a child. It hurts your brain quite a bit as you have to think, really hard! And Dave can sometimes accidentally cheat which makes it even harder. Anyway, I managed to get the right combo in four moves! I was well chuffed.

Koda seems to have taken a dislike to the steps to get into Hetty, so Dave had to lift her into Hetty on both nights. She is not a little, or light, dog so that was fun for him. It was certainly a missed photo opportunity.
One of the more challenging things when staying in Hetty is getting up for a wee in the night. I think we have mastered the art of reversing down the steps and not stepping on the dog. A couple more stays and we will have this down to a fine art.

I will endeavour over the coming weeks to upload photos to a gallery, as I have a lot! Thanks for reading my latest ramblings.
