You guessed it! I am clearly not cut out to be a regular blog writer. Why is it I can happily mow the grass sixty times a week (ok that may be a slight exaggeration) but I cannot sit down once a month and write a blog. I wonder if it is because I am sat at a desk looking at a computer for a lot of my week so my brain refuses to cooperate when I want it to but instead pokes at the bit of my brain that thinks it’s a great idea to mow the lawn or wash the car. It is also great at offering up witty silly comments for the blog when I am out on a walk, knowing full well I will forget it by the time I get back. Annnnnyway, here I am. It’s mid May. I did start to write the blog a few weeks ago whilst sat at the hairdressers having my hair dyed.
Let me paste in my ‘hairdresser blog’ bit and see if I still like what I wrote, or if the weeks that have gone by make it seem a little lacklustre:
March
Well, that’s mad March done with and we are well on our way through April. So what has been going on in the wonderful world of Hetty, I hear you cry.
Well (said Hetty), this month has found Dave lazing around, spending a vast amount of time under her. Ooerr Mrs. But before he started lying around on the job, there was more cutting and fixing of insulation and cladding inside Hetty along with the creation of a door on the outside storage cupboard for the gas containers.

We also fixed and tested the angle of the reversing camera so it was pointing in the right direction! Hoorah.

March has been mainly a plumbing month! Dave took a few days off work this month and dedicated the time to developing his plumbing skills. Part of the plumbing entailed having to fit the waste water tank, which also involved measuring and making the mounting structure for the tank.

Next up, The pull out steps were given a bit of a refurb and new fixings custom made to make them fit back under Hetty.

Then onto internal plumbing. The boiler is settling into its new home, whilst Dave works out what goes where.

I have to say I haven’t been involved much in the mad March activity. I’ve held the odd bit of pipe here and there and offered moral support and advice wherever I could.
Well that is a bit pants. You can tell I was typing it on my phone as the content is somewhat limited. I typed that lot on 6 April. Ahem. We are now on 16 May. Oopsie.
Let me remind myself what else has been happening between then and now. Again, I have not been involved that much in Hetty work, as things are quite fiddly and I would be more of a hindrance than a help, getting in the way.
Other things of note that have happened on Hetty to date!
In a nail biting event, the time came to get her weighed. She has a 7.5T weight limit. Despite them being fancy and quite new, our bathroom scales weren’t going to do the job. So it is a good job we have access to a weighbridge! We got Hetty all geared up and snuck over to site to pop her on the scales. Will she or won’t she need to lose some weight. 5.8 tonnes. Get in!

On Hetty’s return to Tudor Lodge, we pulled her in so she is facing the shed, providing easy access to the other side of Hetty so that the other water tank could be fitted. without the need for Dave to get up close and personal with the hedge.
Dave has spent a lot of time working on Hetty’s rear end too! She is now looking neat and tidy and just needs a coat of paint or two.

Both water tanks have been fitted, which took an awful lot of tooing and fro-ing and a fair amount of cussing by Dave. I think I did hold some pipework still for him at one point in his arduous plumbing journey.

We did have a bit of an interesting evening a couple of weeks ago. I had a voicemail from a very nice lady letting me know she had booked Hetty for the weekend via AirBnb and wanted to ask about payment. Hmm. Had I somehow managed to publish our not completed Horsebox on AirBnb when I went poking around it as a potential thing a while back…. mild panic started to set in. I started to doubt myself. So I called the lady back. It transpired the Hetty she was booked to stay in is in Wales. Phew! Not our Hetty. Panic over. We did not need to do some massive rush job to make her vaguely habitable in a 24 hour period.
Tomorrow evening we are having a next steps for Hetty planning session. I bet you can’t wait to see what we will be up to next. TTFN.
