OK, so strictly speaking I am typing this on 1st March, but it relates to things that have been happening to Hetty during February, so I am going to cut myself some slack here, especially as February is a short month and March arrived far quicker than I was expecting.
So what has been going on then. Well (said Hetty), a lot of head scratching and measuring and thinking for definite. During the head scratching and calculations, we determined that the heater is now going to live under the sofa rather than in the ‘outdoor’ cupboard due to be built in the jolly month of Feb! It means we will need to dismantle the custom made sofa bed to fit the heater, but that is a concern for another month.
There is an awful lot to think about when building a cupboard you know. We had to make sure the bottom compartment would accommodate two gas bottles and would be constructed to a high standard. It needed to have a hole drilled in the floor for any leaking gas to drop out of (I am thinking it may be where Koda could sit when we travel, as her ‘leaking gas’ is a smell to behold). It’s fully insulated on all sides which can only mean more cutting of insulation, making a sound almost as bad as fingernails being scrapped down a blackboard. Sorry to those of you who aren’t old enough to appreciate what that sound is like. I am sure you can use your imagination. This is followed by taping each joint with some silver tape, which often has a mind of its own. It’s a frustrating task to say the least.

It also adds a little something to your day when you are moving about a bit, from the shed to Hetty, and you have a dog shaped shadow who is literally 5cm away from you the whole time.
We are now left with the challenge of building the doors for the cupboard, which I have left Dave in charge of. I think we are going with frames and chicken wire. Watch this space.

Other things have happened in February! Dave has started to insulate the internal walls of the bathroom. I use the excuse that there is no space for me to help inside and I always seem to be cooking dinner at the time he has been working.
The ‘lets light up the night sky’ light which will ultimately shine on the ‘verandah’ has been fitted and the reversing camera has been installed too. Now the days are drawing out and it makes working in the evening an option, we may begin to see more progress. Hopefully we will see some better weather coming our way soon too!
